Enthusiastic couple sharing in the fun: A surprisingly enjoyable economic venture from American Viking Cigars! As stated by Tim Swanson, “it won’t blow your socks off,” however, we are thoroughly impressed. It outperformed other economy cigars. We tried both the Maduro and the Connecticut. The Maduro had solid construction and the burn was decent but we did have to touch it up more as we progressed through the cigar. The notes were pronounced and well balanced. We experienced leather and dark chocolate notes initially which stayed in varying degrees throughout. Pepper came in around the second third and a little spice came in within the last third. The cigar had a good ash for being an economy stick and had a decent aroma and room note. It took us about 60 minutes to smoke and provided a succeeding pleasurable influence us both…a crescendo effect if you will. The Maduro would be a good afternoon or early evening smoke with a whiskey. The Connecticut we would give 5 stars because we did not have to touch up as we progressed like we did with the Maduro. The construction was also solid and the flavor notes were just as pronounced. We experienced slight pepper or spice, some cedar, coffee, and a creamyness that was delicious. It paired really well with a cup of coffee and would be a good morning or midday smoke. Both of these are strong contenders to add to our humidors for a go to/daily smoke.
